Editorial Review for Bombay Bistro – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
On weekdays, Bombay Bistro's all-you-can-eat buffet attracts nearby office workers to feast on vindaloo and tikka masala in this lively room staffed by gracious, helpful servers. Nights and weekends, the scene settles into a peaceful rhythm, as diners chat and gaze out the window at the lovely art deco Foshay Tower across the street. The menu features the greatest hits of Indian cuisine: spicy vegetable korma, salty saag paneer, savory kofta in a creamy sauce.

I went there last night for dinner and didnt eat! It was busy with 2 large parties. I was seated at 750 and my order taken 5 minutes later. 40 minutes later no food no service no nothing! Not once did the staff keep me informed of where the food what was going on. I finally asked and they told me that it would be another 5 minutes..10 minutes later still no food. They served every single person in the restaurant before me including multiple people who arrived after me. Staff barely spoke English so I couldnt really complain. Finally found a waiter who said he would give me my food free which I declined. He then raised his voice and said it wasnt his fault! I have never seen such poor service at a restaurant.

Hello everybody I wanted to share this with you before you go to the Bombay Bistro. I went there for dinner last night and had a bad experience. So bad that I have decided not to go there again. I also want to add that I have been going to the Bombay bistro consistently for 2 years. Four of us went for dinner, we ordered 4 apps and 5 main courses, plus 2 rounds of Long Island Ice Teas. The long Island ice Teas came half full in wine glasses, and by the time I had taken the ice cubes out of them, there was, and I'm not exaggerating here, ONE INCH of drink in them. I called the waiter over, as they are $7 each and complained. They wouldn’t do a thing for us. Next after we ordered our main course we were asked if we wanted white rice or naan with each main course. I asked for yellow rice. He brought, for the entire table, to cover four people and five main courses, one tiny bowl of yellow rice, in a dessert bowl. There was no other rice at all. Naturally we asked for another bowl as it soon ran out. When the bill came, we had not only been charged for 9 long island ice Teas ($63) but unbelievably for TWO bowls of yellow rice ($12). They had also charged us 15% sales tax on the drinks (it should have been 10%) and 10% on the food (it should have been 7.75%) I called the manager over to complain about being charged $12 for two TINY bowls of rice that cost them 5 cents, that should have been included, and he argued with me and refused to do anything about the rice charge. I would have been happy for him to just take off one of the charges. My total bill was $230. They wouldn’t take off $6 for the "extra" bowl of rice. I told them I wouldn’t ever come back as a result and they didn’t care. All in all, a horrible experience, which completely overshadowed the food which was good, but their greed and small mindedness, is what left a bad taste in my mouth. We will never go back.

Pros: good food

Cons: TOTAL RIP OFF. Horrible manager. Terrible drinks.
