Why? That's a big question. It gets asked a lot by a lot of people at a lot of different times in life. "Why me?" "Why now?" Sometimes there's a answer - more often, there's not.

Have you ever asked, "Why God?" Not "why did this or that happen to me", but "Why did Jesus have to die?" "Why the cross?" This time God clearly answers the question in the Bible. "The wages of sin is death!" Sin put Jesus on the cross. Not his sin, but our sins. "All have sinned", the Bible teaches, so it is really true that we put Jesus on the cross.

"Why God?" Our sin put him on the cross, but God's love kept him there. The wages of sin may be death, but "the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." We are all sinners, and all have sinned, but all have been "freely justified by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
