Editorial Review for The Lounge – by Joel Stitzel

In Short
This is where celebrities and bigwigs (including Prince) go for a good time. With a cozy, couch-filled interior, including a private VIP room that surrounds the flashy dance floor. Fed by a lineup of the Twin Cities' best club DJs, the Lounge appeals to the sophisticated night-lifer. DJs play a mix of musical periods and styles. Weekends are a bit more danceable, but there's always something interesting pumping.

We were there for a friend's birthday two weeks ago and had an absolute blast! We will for sure be back. Best part of the place was the multiple rooms of different music. Also, the staff was incredibly gracious and the crowd looked amazing. My whole group commented how great this club was for several days afterward. We are going back this weekend and getting a vip table!

Pros: people, music, employees

Cons: no valet, but there is a ramp close by I guess

We were prepared for a rockin' time to celebrate my friend's 29th birthday at The Lounge and were majorly disappointed :-( There was may-be a total of 100 people in the place; not the packed, posh party scene that we were expecting. And dress code??? There didn't seem to be one, which was disappointing enough in and of itself. It felt like being at a bad frat party back when I was 19, which is not an experience that I want to relive at the age of 28. The hip hop room played music that was popular about 15 years ago and the techno room was full of a bunch of deadbeats standing around staring at eachother. We ended up ditching the place about 30 minutes after we got there and headed over to Bootleggers and had a blast over there! The Lounge is an overrated club that's merely trying to keep up; it's glory days are long gone.

Pros: Parking, free cover before 10:30

Cons: Pretty much everything else.
