Town Talk Diner

A Finer Diner

  • For Happy Hour & A Hamburger
  • For Extraordinary & Delicious
  • For Brunch, Drinks & Wine

The Town Talk Diner, shuttered nearly three years ago, has been reopened! This "renovated" old school diner seats 80 guests in the newly added dining room and serves a full service menu at the original diner counter. Contemporary comfort food is deftly prepared by a local chef with worldly training and an extensive beverage menu has added new twists to old classics. Come in and give us a try!

Editorial Review for Town Talk Diner – by Molly Priesmeyer

In Short
Exposed brick, stainless steel and indie-alternative tunes set this metrosexual haunt apart from the average greasy spoon. A steady clientele of hipsters enjoy hours of gab and grub, soaking up the kitsch of the dining room and bar. The ambitious menu--invented by three fancy chefs who decided to take their talents to the people--ranges from wieners and burgers to a much more dapper double-cut pork chop with sour chicory hash and cherry sauce.

Insider Tips

What to Drink

Forties take on a more demure appearance and are served champagne-style in ice buckets. Old school drinks like gin fizzes and Rob Roys make a comeback. For dessert, the Monkey Business adult malt--made with chocolate ice cream, bananas, peanut butter and bourbon--is great to slurp with your sweetheart.

The Extras

Town Talk now serves its famous Frickles, burgers, tempeh sandwiches and more during lunch. And for an extra-special old-school lunch break, classic cocktails like the Jackson Pollock and Manhattans add even more allure to Town Talk's charm.

My boyfriend and I live close to the Town Talk Diner and we couldn't be happier. Being within stumbling distance from a restaurant that continues to bravely throw new concoctions on their drink menu that include ingredients such as bacon infused vodka shows hutzpah and many of the drinks I've sampled are above average. If you don't like being someone's guinea pig then the servers are happy to steer you towards favorite selections. There has only been one occasion when I have received less than stellar food or service and this was at brunch. I would stick to their evening offerings and plan to wait for a table as they tend to have at least a 15 minute wait (that's nothing) and you can sample those drinks I was mentioning. The adult milkshakes are worth the price of admission.

Pros: Unique Drinks, Changing Menu

Let me start by saying that I love food. All food. And I've never regretted spending $100 on a meal until now. Everything about our dinner at the Talk Town Diner was average or less than average. The vegetarian pizza was good, but incredibly light on vegetables. My fiance's burger and fries were boring. The burger itself was actually dry and the fries were something I would expect from a fast food restaurant rather than an upscale diner. I ordered the duck burgers with bourbon ketchup and perhaps I'm a minority, but I never expected raw duck burgers. I've had duck many times at some of the best French restaurants in the country, so I didn't expect duck tartare on a bun. I'm not exaggerating. It had the slightest sear and the rest of the patty was completely raw. (The server assured me this was how they intended it to be prepared). And finally, even the bourbon ketchup failed miserably. It was bourbon, poured on top of my ketchup. It looked and tasted like they had prepared it at the bar. I had heard such wonderful things about Talk Town, but we won't even give it a second chance after tonight. Oh and by the way, our appetizer took 45 minutes to arrive. They brought us out complimentary chips after 25 minutes as an apology.
