I have eaten at the capital grille twice, and of the five best meals I've ever eaten in my life those two meals are in the top five. The service was unbeatable and Matthew was very informative and entertaining. I like their steaks and their desserts are to die for. The prices are up there but I would recommend this place for a special occasion date. It is very loud so I would not call it romantic. I also liked the decor and location is close to the theaters.

Pros: the food, thats why I go to restaurants

Cons: a little noisy and a little pricey

My boyfriend took me here after I got a new job. It was a great location, offered great customer service and the food was super good. He made reservations and we had a pretty private booth. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice dinner or lunch and is willing to pay a little more for the better customer service.

I will be honest in my review- the night I am reviewing was in December 2006. I do realize that things can change in such a long period of time- so please remember that while reading. We went to The Capital Grille for my birthday celebration last year; we walked in the door to a very warm wonderful greeting by the staff. Once we arrived at our table there was a card sitting there with my name on it- it was a very short and simple "Happy Birthday" signed by the staff working that night. What a great first impression of this place! We were treated with the utmost respect and had wonderful service throughout our entire visit. Our food was cooked to perfection and full of flavor! At a place the this you can't expect to leave without paying top prices; the food is more than worth it! I highly recommend The Capital Grille to anyone who is looking for a nice dinner in a fun city. It was a full house, which is always a good thing! The atmosphere was not too loud and not too quite- perfect for a nice meal with some people that I love with all my heart!

I rarely do this..............but 3 times in a row (in the past 3 months) I've had overcooked filet. Ordered Med. Rare and recieve Med Well to Well. I'm really not that picky..........ok I am when it comes to my filet. Really though..............i'd settle for Medium, but not well done when I order it Med. Rare. At least they had the manager talk to me one of the three times this happened. Other than that, the servers were polished and well versed. The location is great and it is a nice atmosphere, but come on..............3 times of screwing up what they should do best???????????? Oh yeah and the dessert was good but not beyond that. Forgive me but after 3 times i'd say check out another place because there are so many good spots in our area.

There are a number of great steakhouses in downtown Minneapolis (Manny's, Ruth's Chris, Morton's, etc). However, Capital Grill sticks out as the best in my mind. This is based on their Delmonico bone-in Ribeye & the ambiance. If you haven't gone, I recommend trying it out for a night with the guys or a romantic date.

My sister and I like to go to a "$$$$" restaurant about once a month or so, and this was our first trip to Capital Grille. Yes, my expectations were high, since we had been to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse about four times in a row prior to this. The bread was great. The service and ambiance were fabulous. But.... my filet Mignon was crunchy on the outside and well-done on the inside, when I ordered it "on the rare side of medium." This brought out the gristle, and I couldn't eat very much of it. Thankfully, the potatoes were good, and the dessert was fabulous. Our waiter, Bruce, was very professional and friendly. I will probably go back again, maybe it was just an off night. I'm weak around good desserts.

Pros: Free valet parking, great service

Cons: None, really.

Fabulous food, great ambiance, but definately steer clear from table 400. It's a small table for 2 right by the kitchen and next to a large round table. The waiter could barely get to us and it felt cramped, but that is the only bad table in there. The restaurant is A+ otherwise.

Cons: They cram a lot of people into a small space

One of my favorite Twin City Restaurants. Step into the good-old-boys dinner club, where they wait on you hand and foot. Great Steaks & Service. Convenient downtown location. My favorite is the bone-in filet, and the pea soup (when they have it). Nice wine selection too.

My husband and I went here recently for a romantic night out, and from the moment we were seated, we were treated with exceptional service. The waiter went over the menu with us and even asked what we were here to eat and went over those specific items. The waiter also was very meticulous about keeping our water and wine glasses full. When my husband had to use the bathroom, he was escorted by our waiter, and the bathrooms were quite impressive--not to mention while he was gone the waiter came back and re-folded his napkin. We ordered filet mingon, and the outside was a little charred and the middle was just about right. I was a little disappointed by that--for a $35 steak, it better be done to perfection. Overall, we were very impressed and will return again!

everthing was excellant, service, food, all the staff were just increable. you could not find a better restaurant in the whole state.AWSOME!!!!!!!!!
